My Favorite Story

Song: The News
Artist: Jack Johnson

My favorite story ever that exemplifies the frivolity of our prayers some times. I heard it in church and it made me chuckle. I hope you like it. Here it goes.

Child:  Mom! Can I have a new bicycle?!? Mine is too old and smelly.

Mom:  We just bought you that bike a year ago. It should still be good!

Child:  But there are newer ones now that don't make noise like mineeeeeee! Pleeeaseee?!?

Mom:  Well son, I can't afford to get you a newer bike. Why don't you pray for one!

(Child goes upstairs to bedroom)

Child prays:  Dear Jesus, If you get me a new bike, I will be a good boy for the rest of the year!
(Thinks to himself... No, that is a lie). I'm sorry. Let me rephrase that.

Dear Jesus, If you get me a new bike, I won't talk back to my parents anymore... (Thinks, MAN! That's a lie too.) Okay. Let me try that again.

Dear Jesus, If you would get me a new bike, I will never tell a lie. (That is definitely a lie...) Sorry Jesus. Let me start over.

(Child runs and gets his mini statue of Mary and hides it under his bed)

Dear Jesus...

If you ever want to see your mother again....
